Frequently asked questions:

What ages can use Cogmed?

With Cogmed's flexible training protocols the program can be tailored to suit both children and adults, in general from age 4 and up.

Who can benefit?

Research shows that Cogmed can benefit individuals both with and without cognitive impairment.

However, people who struggle with symptoms of attention deficit are likely to experience more significant benefits in their everyday life.

ADHD, stroke, traumatic brain injury, cancer treatment recovery, and premature birth often have attention deficit as a key component, and individuals with these conditions are likely to be good candidates for Cogmed.

How long does it take?

The Cogmed program takes roughly 20 hours to complete in full, and the baseline configuration is to train 50 minutes per day, 5 days per week, for 5 weeks.

It's possible to adjust the daily training length to 25 or 35 minutes, and to train 3 or 4 days per week instead. With these adjustments, it can take anywhere between 5 and 13 weeks to complete Cogmed.

All configurations have been designed to yield similar effects at the end of training, so work with your Coach to find the protocol that will be most suitable for your needs, ability, and schedule.

Is there scientific evidence Cogmed is effective?

Yes - plenty! You can read more about the 20+ years of research behind Cogmed here.

What makes Cogmed different from casual “brain training” apps?

Three things:

  1. Rigorous Evidence
The efficacy of Cogmed is based on over 120 peer-reviewed articles published in scientific journals.
This makes Cogmed the most evidence-based cognitive training program available.
  2. Sustainable Change
Cogmed is not about teaching strategies for coping with attention deficit, but about increasing attentional capacity itself.
Research shows that gains in attention and behavioural outcomes are sustained over time.
  3. Qualified Coaches
Cogmed is provided exclusively by qualified Coaches, trained in the Cogmed method.
Support given by the Coach is essential for motivation and compliance, which is necessary to achieve the desired effects.
