Study investigates link between Working Memory deficits and Specific Language Impairment

Posted: December 13, 2010 – A review in the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology investigates the association between Specific Language Impairment (SLI) and Working Memory deficits. Despite the fact that those with SLI often have impairments in working memory, little is known about the relationship between the two.

The researchers in the study illuminate the current understanding of the association between SLI and Working Memory deficits and conclude that “The assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of the language difficulties in SLI should consider the potential influence of WM.”
