Dyslexia is a learning disability with various symptoms and causes that manifests itself mainly in difficulty with reading, writing, and with other auditory functions related to language. Estimations of the prevalence of dyslexia range between 2 to 20% of the population. While the causes for this learning disability vary, working memory deficits are present in a portion of the dyslexic population. Researchers are investigating the use of Cogmed training in the subset of the dyslexic population where working memory is the root cause in hopes of improving the disorder’s debilitating symptoms.
