Dr. Torkel Klingberg is a professor of cognitive neuroscience at the Stockholm Brain Institute, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. Dr. Klingberg’s research focuses on ways in which the human brain deals with attention and working memory. He has placed particular focus on the development of the brain and these capacities during childhood and how they can be improved by training. |
Dr. Klingberg’s research has gained recognition in the scientific community and the international media, notably in Scientific American and New Scientist. He has received distinctions from the International Neuropsychological Association and has been named “Future Research Leader” by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. Dr. Klingberg also holds a research position at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Helena WesterbergDr. Helena Westerberg , one of the founders of Cogmed, earned a master's degree in psychology from the University of Stockholm 2002, and a Ph.D. in medicine from Karolinska Institutet in 2004. Dr. Westerberg, is a neuropsychologist with experience in the assessment and treatment of working memory. She joined the company after serving as a clinical neuropsychologist at Karolinska Hospital, still a Ph.D student in Dr. Klingberg’s laboratory. |
Dr. Westerberg has experience of children and adults who have working memory deficits – in clinical assessment and in conducting research studies. Dr. Westerberg is associated with the Aging Research Center at Karolinska Institutet, where she runs experimental studies on plasticity of working memory in aging.
